The 2023 Golden Board Awards
At tSB our alumni, volunteers, and community partners all play an important role in building a strong community. Each year, our community nominates and honors three (3) individuals and organizations that have made a lasting impact on the tSB community with the Golden Board Award.
This year, we're excited to be presenting the Golden Board Awards to three incredible community members who reflect our mission and core values, and literally go above and beyond their traditional roles in service to youth in King County. Join us in celebrating their efforts at Soiree!

Nyema Clark
Nurturing Roots Farm
Community Partner

Nurturing Roots Farm (NRF) provides programming committed to addressing food justice issues in the community. tSB has partnered with NRF and it's founder, Nyema Clark, for more than four years to engage youth in service and education projects highlighting sustainable, regenerative and culturally relevant farming practices. Through this partnership, NRF and tSB have engaged dozens of BIPoC and low income youth in reimagining food justice and impact in our communities.
A Seattle native, Nyema Clark is both a black business owner and founder and Director of NRF. Nyema is a passionate and dedicated farmer who is committed to cultivating healthy, sustainable, and inclusive food systems. Recognizing that those in underserved communities, lack access to fresh, healthy, and culturally relevant food, NRF was born out of Clark's desire to create a space where people from diverse backgrounds could come together to learn about and engage with the food system. Clark and her team grow a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers using sustainable and regenerative farming practices. They also offer educational programs and workshops on topics such as gardening, cooking, and food preservation.
In addition, the farm provides fresh produce to local schools, food banks, and community organizations, and hosts community events and gatherings. Nyema is committed to enriching underserved communities, her strength and overall goal is founded in youth empowerment and community economic sustainability.
Won Suh
Volunteer of the Year

Over the past decade, Won (he/him) was instrumental in increasing access to snowboarding for youth through various volunteer roles at tSB, including introducing so many tSB youth to the outdoor sports that he loved and creating paths to access wherever he could. Over the years, he came to be known as a dedicated volunteer, industry guru, rad snowboarder, mentor and fierce friend, one who never sought (and rarely accepted) praise for his efforts. We couldn't have asked for a better partner in this work.
Won passed away in May 2023, leaving behind a huge community of friends, family and colleagues at evo. His impact was also felt at tSB and he will be greatly missed in the community.
Hoping to honor his connection to community and passion for the outdoors, Won's friends, family and colleagues began a memorial fund in his honor. This fund has provided increased support for our Summer Snowboard Scholarship for BIPoC and low income youth to explore opportunities in snowboarding without the barriers of entry.
